charcoal pans

Post  swinewerks on Mon Apr 20, 2009 10:49 am

I am looking at adding the charcoal pans to the cooking chamber for grilling and I was wanting to know if any of you have that option and how well it works.

Thanks

I thought about it but chose not to. Let me know what you decide.

I made the mod last weekend for a family cook. It seemed to work well. The temps in front of the pan were about 30 higher than normal but it didn't seem to be a problem. The pan worked great for grillin the chicken we did. The only problem I had was the chicken was so juicy the drips kept killing the coals. I'm doing a charity comp for UMB bank this weekend and we have to do 44LBS Shocked of chicken for the people choice award so well see how it works. I'll post some pics later.

I don't have that option, but I wish I did. Only problem I see is that there is no place for the ashes to drop. So there would be no air circulation. I may mod my smoker later to include those. Cool

It sounds like you should have the situation under control. I would love to see the pics.
