FAT 50 Ultra

Post  TOPS BBQ on Mon Aug 11, 2008 9:37 pm

Delivery to my driveway: Oct 4th, 2007
Options: all (went with grill adder and steamer. No water/grill pans).
Mods: Drop down gate for carraige under smoker. Hanging hooks under serving shelf. Replaced jack plate with Steel wheel. More mods to come.

Most food cooked at once: 155 pounds of tri-tip.

Here's a pic loaded with competition meats:

I recently had some more mods made to my FAT 50. Being that I am short, it was a little tough loading and unloading heavy items from the top storage shelf. I had a drop gate added to one side of the shelf, so I wouldn't have to lift items over the top of the rail. I also had the shelf squared off. Now I can fit items in a lot easier. Check out the pics:

I also had the serving shelf changed from expanded metal to a solid steel table. No more worrying about grease/sauce on my shoes.

Tops, you mods look great. I'm planning adding a top basket to mine sometime this year and side shelves to the outside of the cooking chamber for more work space. I will definatly have to put a hinge on the top basket like you did.

Hey Swinewerks. Thanks for the compliments. Let's see some pics of the side shelves when you get them. Just make sure the don't poke out to far, or you'll get hung up. You might try setting them up so that they fold up or down during travel/storage.

Good luck!
