Trying Lump
So to try and keep a more consistent temp I started with 3 splits on each side and have added 1 more split and now I am working with lump. a lot less smoke so far and more consistent temp solid 230. Keep you posted.

You are putting 3 sticks on each side? What size are you using? My reason for asking is because I use 18"-24" splits. I usually start off with one or two splits and add one when needed. Six splits total sounds like a lot. Of course you have a little larger smoker.
